Live pigs price dynamics

As anticipated, the pork prices increased before the New Year. The demand for pork usually becomes brisker before the New Year. But the demand for pork is worse in the comparison with the same period of the previous year. The reduction of consumers’ income and paying capacity is the main reason for this. As the consequence the meat processing companies face the difficulties to sell ready products.
From November till December the prices for bacon type pigs increased by 4.2% and were 17.05UAH/kg. The price for meat type pigs increased by 3% and were 18.35UAH/kg. The prices for meat type pigs in the enterprises which are members of Ukrainian Pig Producers Association are not the exception, they increased by 3% and were 19.25UAH/kg.
The seasonal decrease of pork prices is expected in February, it will be caused by increased supply, as more pigs will be slaughtered.

From the 20th of December till the 10th of January the prices for pigs of all categories increased. The price for bacon type pigs increased by 0.6% (0.1 UAH/kg) and was 17.6UAH/kg. The price for meat type pigs increased by 4% (0.7UAH/kg) and was 19.4UAH/kg. The prices for meat type pigs in the enterprises which are members of Ukrainian Pig Producers Association are the highest. It increased by 1.3%(0.25%UAH/kg) and was 19.85UAH/kg.
