Pig deaths were recorded in two backyard farms in the village of Mykhailiv. Laboratory tests detected African swine fever virus DNA in the collected samples and confirmed ASF in the animals.
The State Extraordinary Anti-Epizootic Commission under the Beryslav District State Administration decided to impose an ASF quarantine in the village of Mykhailiv from 15 September 2026.
Specialists from the Beryslav District Department of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the district state veterinary hospital are currently implementing measures to contain the outbreak and prevent further spread of the virus across Beryslav district.
The State Service reminds that ASF is a viral disease affecting domestic and wild pigs. It poses no threat to humans but causes significant economic losses to the pig sector due to the need for strict disease-control measures.
The ASF virus is highly resistant in the environment and can spread rapidly among pig populations. Pig owners are advised to immediately notify the state veterinary hospital if they observe signs of disease or pig deaths.
