Vitagro Group is completing the installation of the third phase of solar power plants at its livestock facilities. The company is implementing a large-scale own-generation development program, under which it plans to install more than 1 MW of solar power capacity at 19 facilities over the next three years.
The main projects are focused on pig complexes, cattle farms, and poultry farms. The goal is to partially supply the enterprises with their own electricity and reduce dependence on external energy sources.
The company notes that it began investing more actively in energy projects in 2024 amid capacity shortages in the national energy system and rising electricity prices.
The next stage of development will involve installing energy storage systems that will allow production facilities to continue operating during power outages or supply restrictions. In this way, the company aims to improve the energy resilience of its operations.
In addition to solar generation, Vitagro Group is also investing in cogeneration units. Facilities with high electricity consumption already operate cogeneration systems at the company’s biomethane and bioethanol plants. Another 2 MW cogeneration unit is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026.
One of the group’s enterprises has also obtained the status of an active electricity consumer, allowing it to sell part of its excess electricity generation back to the grid.
The company emphasizes that investments in own-generation and renewable energy are part of Vitagro Group’s long-term ESG strategy aimed at improving energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and operational continuity.
