Ukrainian slaughter pig prices went up due to the quarantine
In the first half of March, the average purchase price of live weight pork was at UAH 44.8/kg. However, there was an upward movement of quotation in the middle of the month. Thus, the average slaughter pig price rose by 3%, according to Oleksandra Bondarska, the head analyst of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders.

The end of winter was marked by a sudden rehabilitation of purchase prices for slaughter pigs. According to the results of weekly monitoring of live market prices, the average market price during the last week of February added 5.4% to the previous week’s price, reaching 42.7 UAH/kg. This was reported by Olexandra Bondarska, the head analyst of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders.

During the second week of October, the slaughter pig prices maintained the achieved previously level. According to the results of pig prices monitoring made by the analytical department of the AUPB, the range of this week remained at the 46−49 UAH/kg level and the market average shifted up by 1.4% to 48.13 UAH/kg.

In the middle of summer, pork imports rebound
According to the customs statistics of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, during January-July, Ukraine imported 13 600 tons of pork with a total value of 25.7 million USD. This escalates the last year’s mark by 11% or 1.4 thousand tonnes. "If the import activity in July remained at the level of the previous two months, the volume of foreign pork incomes in January-July of the current year would be equal to last year’s," – comment the analysts of the Association of Ukrainian Pig Breeders.
