The Number of Pigs Has Significantly Decreased in Poland
The Polish Agricultural Ministry tries to combat the continuing decline in the pig population. Estimates are that in early 2023 the number of pigs in Poland dropped to 9.6 million heads, the lowest number since the 1950s.

The Number of Farm Animals is Decreasing in the EU
In November/December 2022, there were 134 million pigs (-5% compared to 2021), 75 million cattle (-1%), 59 million sheep (-2%) and 11 million goats (-3%) in the EU.

Denmark's pig population has fallen to a 20-year low
Denmark's pig herd has fallen to a 20-year low, leading to a decline in piglet exports. Piglet exports to Germany from January to November 2022 fell 11.9 percent to nearly 5.09 million compared to the same period last year.
