The remains of dead wild boars were found on the territory of the Dashiv Forestry, part of the Haisyn Forestry District of the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” in Vinnytsia Region. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of African swine fever (ASF) in the animals. The information was reported by the Central-Western Interregional Department of Forestry and Hunting Management.
According to the authority, the epizootic situation in Ukraine remains challenging. Official data show that 9 ASF cases were recorded in the country in 2022, 47 in 2023, 85 in 2024, and 53 in 2025. In 2026, the concerning trend continues.
ASF does not pose a risk to human health; however, it causes significant economic losses to the pig industry due to the culling of animals, the introduction of quarantine restrictions, and the loss of export opportunities.
