The Kryvyi Rih District Office of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection has reported an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in the Dnipropetrovsk region, according to a Facebook post published by the Vakulove Rural Territorial Community.
The outbreak site was identified in the village of Vakulove. Specialists are currently carrying out a set of measures aimed at localizing the outbreak and preventing further spread of the virus.
In particular, quarantine restrictions are being established in protection and surveillance zones, and the necessary anti-epizootic measures are being organized in accordance with current veterinary and sanitary requirements.
African swine fever remains one of the biggest challenges for the pig industry due to its high contagiousness and significant economic consequences. In the event of a confirmed outbreak, strict containment measures are implemented to prevent the spread of the infection.
Owners of pig farms and the public are urged to strictly follow biosecurity requirements, limit animal movements, and immediately notify veterinary specialists if suspicious symptoms are detected in pigs.
