The last positive farm successfully completed its remediation plan in 2022, maintaining sustained negative results to date.

From 2014 to 2023, the Agriculture and Livestock Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Chile developed a National Program for the Control and Eradication of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS). In 2023, a surveillance program was implemented and developed, with negative results, to demonstrate the absence of the disease throughout the national territory based on the guidelines of Chapters 1.4 and 15.3 of the OMSA Terrestrial Animal Health Code.

Finally, through a resolution, the government of Chile declared the Republic of Chile free of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), incorporating this disease into the National Surveillance System for Exotic Diseases. In addition, Exempt Resolution N°7855 of 2013, which indicates the establishment of sanitary measures for the control and eradication of the virus from the national territory, has been repealed.
