Poland Records First ASF Outbreak in Domestic Pigs in Podlaskie Voivodeship in 2026

The first outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in domestic pigs in Poland’s Podlaskie Voivodeship in 2026 has been confirmed. The outbreak was detected on a farm in Półkoty, where 550 pigs were kept.

The farm is located in Sejny commune, Sejny county.

Following confirmation of ASF, veterinary authorities began implementing measures to eradicate the outbreak. These include the killing and disposal of pigs, cleaning and disinfection of the premises, and the establishment of restricted zones.

A protection zone and a surveillance zone have been established within a radius of up to 10 km around the outbreak.

According to the veterinary authorities of Podlaskie Voivodeship, this is the first ASF outbreak in domestic pigs in the region in 2026.
