The campaign draws on the experience of producers integrated with Brazilian companies involved in pork production and exports. The main focus is on everyday practices that directly affect animal health and welfare.
Among the key areas highlighted by ABPA are farm access controls, compliance with hygiene procedures, the use of dedicated clothing and footwear on production sites, control of vehicle and pedestrian movement, proper maintenance of production facilities, feeding practices, and the management of animals outside the main production areas.
The awareness campaign will be promoted through social media, while ABPA member companies will also distribute relevant materials among their producers.
Goal Is to Preserve Brazil’s Disease-Free Status
ABPA President Ricardo Santin stressed that the campaign is intended to increase attention to biosecurity both in production planning and in farms’ daily routines.
According to him, this is particularly important amid the spread of serious pig diseases in Asia, Africa, Europe and parts of North America.
“Brazil is free from African swine fever, porcine epidemic diarrhoea and other diseases. This is largely the result of the care that Brazilian pig farmers devote to their daily production routines,” Santin said.
ABPA emphasises that the campaign is designed to remind producers of their role not only in protecting their own farms, but also in ensuring food security for Brazil and for countries that import Brazilian products.
