According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), 131,126 tonnes of pork were shipped to international markets in August, compared with 121,469 tonnes a year earlier.
Despite the increase in export volume, revenue declined slightly, falling by 1.7% to $289.9 million. In August 2025, export revenue totalled $294.9 million.
Exports Exceed 1 Million Tonnes in Eight Months
In January–August 2026, Brazil exported 1.057 million tonnes of pork, 8.9% more than in the same period of 2025, when shipments totalled 970,300 tonnes.
Export revenue for the period reached $2.447 billion, up 4.8% from $2.335 billion a year earlier.
ABPA President Ricardo Santin noted that exports exceeding the 1 million-tonne mark in eight months, together with the growth recorded in August, confirm steady international demand for Brazilian pork.
Japan Nearly Doubles Purchases
The Philippines remained the largest buyer of Brazilian pork in August, importing 23,300 tonnes. However, this was 30.4% less than in August 2025.
By contrast, several other key markets significantly increased their purchases. Shipments to Japan rose by 92.9% to 16,500 tonnes, while exports to China increased by 45.9% to 15,200 tonnes.
Vietnam imported 8,300 tonnes, up 38.3% year on year. Shipments to Singapore increased by 25.2% to 6,600 tonnes.
At the same time, exports to Chile fell by 40% to 8,000 tonnes.
According to Ricardo Santin, higher sales to Japan, China and Vietnam demonstrate the competitiveness of Brazilian pork and the successful expansion of the country’s export geography.
Santa Catarina Maintains Its Lead
Among Brazilian states, Santa Catarina remained the largest pork exporter in August, shipping 64,100 tonnes, 12.6% more than a year earlier.
Rio Grande do Sul exported 30,400 tonnes (-3.3%), while Paraná shipped 22,800 tonnes (+24.3%).
Mato Grosso also recorded strong growth, with exports rising by 25.3% to 4,000 tonnes, while Minas Gerais increased shipments by 25.7% to 3,200 tonnes.
Brazil therefore continues to increase pork export volumes while reducing its dependence on individual markets and expanding shipments to a broader range of countries.
