China has officially approved 106 new U.S. meat processing facilities to export eligible pork and poultry products produced on or after June 12, according to a notice published on the website of the Chinese Customs Administration.

The newly authorized facilities include 23 pork plants and 83 poultry plants, as listed in the Chinese customs database. The approval was issued on June 6, one day after China and the United States reached an agreement in Geneva to revive their trade truce and resume structured dialogue.

Earlier in March, China imposed tariffs of up to 15% on $21 billion worth of U.S. agricultural and food products in retaliation for new levies introduced by the U.S. on Chinese exports.

Hundreds of U.S. meat plants initially gained access to the Chinese market under the 2020 "Phase 1" trade deal brokered by then-President Donald Trump. However, many of those facilities lost their eligibility earlier in 2025. While registrations for pork and poultry plants have now been renewed, beef processing plants remain listed as “expired.”

The move is expected to revitalize U.S.–China trade in meat products and marks a positive development amid broader tensions in bilateral economic relations.
