The Ukrainian delegation included First Deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) Oleh Osiyan, Deputy Head and Chief State Phytosanitary Inspector Vadym Chaikovskyi, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, SSUFSCP, and the Embassy of Ukraine in China.
A key focus of the meeting was strengthening trade and economic relations, expanding exports of Ukrainian agricultural products, aligning phytosanitary procedures, and enhancing investment and scientific cooperation.
Among the highlights of this year’s progress were the signing of two new protocols:
- On the export of peas from Ukraine to China;
- On the export of wild-caught aquatic products from Ukraine to China.
- Technical procedures are currently ongoing to finalize certificate forms and exchange information required for Chinese audits of Ukrainian facilities.
“Cooperation with China is not only about increasing trade volumes but also about building trust, harmonizing standards, and reducing trade barriers. Ukraine is ready to deepen this cooperation and strengthen its presence in one of the world’s key markets,” said Oleh Osiyan. “We have also initiated discussions on the recognition of the regionalization principle in relation to ASF, which would pave the way for pork exports to China. We hope for further consideration of this matter,” he added.
Additionally, five more export protocols are in preparation, covering:
- Wheat flour;
- Pet food;
- Mutual poultry meat trade;
- Expanded range of beef products;
- Updated requirements for corn exports.
All related documentation has been submitted to the Chinese side for review.
According to Vadym Chaikovskyi, SSUFSCP highly values its fruitful cooperation with China’s General Administration of Customs and is committed to further engagement. Harmonized standards, transparent certification procedures, and effective phytosanitary control are key to ensuring trust and sustainable development of Ukrainian agricultural exports to China.
The meeting reaffirmed strong mutual understanding and a shared commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and diplomatic missions, SSUFSCP continues to work systematically to open new export markets, strengthen Ukraine’s export potential, and enhance food safety and quality controls.
