US pork shipments to Canada posted a sharp increase in April 2026, rising by 71% compared to the low base recorded a year earlier. During the first four months of the year, Canada increased its imports of US pork by 12%, reaffirming its position as one of the key export markets for American producers.

According to data from the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF), US pork exports to Canada reached 14,200 tonnes in April, representing a 71% increase compared to April 2025.

The value of exports rose by 65%, reaching US$56.1 million.

Overall, from January through April 2026, the United States exported 65,300 tonnes of pork to Canada, up 12% compared with the same period last year.

Export revenue for the four-month period totaled US$258.5 million, an increase of 10% year-on-year.

Analysts note that Canada remains one of the most stable destinations for US pork exports due to the close integration of the two countries’ markets and the high level of bilateral trade in agri-food products.

The growth in shipments to Canada comes amid an overall positive performance of US pork exports in 2026. Key drivers continue to be steady demand across North American and Asian markets, as well as ongoing industry efforts to expand export opportunities.

USMEF representatives stated that the results from the first four months of the year demonstrate sustained demand for US pork among Canadian importers, supporting positive expectations for further growth in bilateral trade.
