A free course titled “Pig Welfare: Best Practices and Inspection Features” is already available on the AgriAcademy platform, developed with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The training program covers the key aspects of pig welfare, including:
- basic principles and legislative requirements;
- proper feeding and housing practices;
- approaches to assessing animal health and behavior;
- preparation for inspections and audits.
The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical case studies from real farms. Participants gain skills in evaluating welfare based on behavioral, resource-based, and clinical indicators, and learn how to interpret them in the context of daily farm operations.

In parallel, the editorial team of Profitable Pig Production has prepared another important tool — a special issue titled “Pig Welfare: Practical Guidelines.”
The publication systematizes:
- Ukrainian legislative requirements;
- EU approaches to animal welfare;
- practical recommendations for implementing standards on farms.
Particular attention is given to the most challenging areas for producers, including space organization, microclimate, feeding, reducing aggression in groups, and assessing farm compliance.
In essence, the special issue serves as a practical handbook to help adapt new requirements to real production conditions.
A subscription can be arranged by phone at +38 067 357 84 94 or by email at derkach_v@dykun.com.ua.
