As of the end of April 2025, Poland has reported 1,925 cases of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boars — almost as many as in the entire year of 2024, which saw 2,311 cases in total.

Most infected animals were detected or trapped in the northern and northwestern regions of the country. ASF outbreaks in wild boars show a clear seasonal pattern, with the majority occurring from autumn through spring — particularly between September and May.

During summer and autumn, when field work intensifies, the number of ASF outbreaks tends to increase among domestic pigs.
