The blockade of Ukraine's borders had a significant impact on Ukrainian foreign trade, primarily on imports. This is stated in the Inflation Report published on April 3 by the National Bank of Ukraine.

«According to NBU estimates, direct losses of imports of goods in the first month of the blockade amounted to USD 500 million, while exports amounted to USD 160 million. In the future, the loss of imports was partially compensated by an increase in supplies by other routes, and the loss of exports — by an increase in the capacity of the new sea corridor,» the report says.

According to the NBU, the full functioning of the Ukrainian corridor will make it possible not only to compensate for the losses from the border blockade and the introduction of grain licensing, but also to return to the traditional markets for Ukrainian exports.
