Ukraine and the European Union signed an agreement on cargo transportation by road transport - the so-called "transport visa-free travel. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

As specified, the signed agreement abolishes the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain permits for bilateral and transit traffic to the EU and avoids stopping the export of Ukrainian products through the road checkpoints.

The agreement also provides for measures to simplify the recognition of driving documents. Now Ukraine and the EU exempt the owners of driving licenses issued by one of the parties from the requirement to have an international driving license.

The term of the agreement is 1 year with the possibility of prolongation, and it temporarily comes into force from today. On a permanent basis the agreement will work after the completion of all ratification procedures.

"We managed to come to an agreement as soon as possible - the negotiations began last fall. Understanding the difficult logistic situation in Ukraine caused by the blockade of sea ports and damage to the transport infrastructure, the European colleagues simultaneously moved towards us and significantly accelerated the process of agreeing the agreement," - noted the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Alexander Kubrakov.

He also added that the ministry will continue to work on the rapid transport integration into the EU.
